Fire Island Covid Destroyers

GMHC, Daniel Nardicio and the Dworld crew join forces with Taylor Shubert to put together the FIRE ISLAND COVID DESTROYERS- using funds to employ out of work drag queens and go-go dancers and enforce safety on Fire Island. Our COVID DESTROYERS will greet people at the dock with hand sanitizer and masks, infiltrate beach parties to encourage social distancing, and educate island visitors about how to stay safe and still have fun. 

“Fire Island was an epicenter of the Aids crisis, and we can help take care of our own. We’ve decided a positive, helpful approach will do much more than a ‘tag em and drag em approach’ and we can hire out of work nightlife performers while doing it”, says Daniel Nardicio. 

The initiative, born out of last weeks unplanned series of parties, has caused great concern in the gay community. Taking from earlier Aids initiatives implemented by GMHC, the Covid Destoyers are looking to educate, discuss and even make mask-wearing sexy and fun.
